Q. What is the best yarn for a beginner?

A. We would suggest Double Knitting (DK) yarn, DK is very versatile and suits lots of projects. Aran and Chunky yarn is thicker so you can see your stitches clearly. I would avoid sock weight, 4ply and lace yarn to begin with.

Q. Is sock yarn just for socks?

A. No, you can use sock yarn for most 4ply projects such as shawls, wraps and lightweight tops.

Q. How long does Dye to Order take?

A. Our turnaround time for Dye to Order is 2-3 weeks to allow time for dyeing, drying, twisting and sending it out to you. Please get in touch if you have a specific deadline and we can work out the arrangements.

Q. What is your yarn composition?

A. Our Platinum Sock yarn and our Platinum DK yarn is made up of 75% superwash merino wool and 25% nylon. Our Aran and Chunky yarn is made up of 100% superwash merino wool. Please check out the Yarn Bases page for more information.

Q. Can I wash your yarn?

A. All our yarn is hand washed with wool wash before drying and twisting. We recommend hand washing projects made with our yarn in warm water. You may want to add some wool wash to the water. Lay your projects flat to dry.

Q. How long will it take to get my order?

A. It can take us between 3-5 days to process and pack your order (ready to ship items) and we ship with Royal Mail. Depending on which service you select at checkout, 1st class aims to deliver between 1-2 working days and 2nd class aims to deliver between 2-3 working days.

Q. Do you offer custom dyed yarn?

A. Please get in touch to discuss you requirements for custom dyed yarn and we will see if we have availability to fulfil it.

Q. What can I use my yarn for?

A. You can use our yarn for crochet, knitting, weaving and tapestry. Check out our collaboration with Tabby and Tweed for lots of different weaving kits.
